2023 CANDIDATES

The Republican Committee is proud to announce its slate of candidates for 2023. We would like to thank all the candidates who came in and screened with our committee. Putting oneself in the public eye is often difficult and it cannot be done without the support of their families. We owe a great deal of gratitude to those who step up and lead.

Legislatively, this is an incredibly strong slate, and we look forward to the opportunities for the community to meet our candidates and discuss the issues facing our town. 2023 will usher in a new era, an era which will set the course and tone for our future. It is time to hit the reset button on the Town Hall. Our candidates bring many different strengths to the table. However, there are several threads that unite our candidates; transparency, the ability to listen, hard work and analytical approaches to our Town’s budget and scientific studies. Our candidates understand the balance that is needed to build our economy, manage growth and protect the environment. We will tackle our long-term fiscal and environmental responsibilities with common sense and a proactive approach. We are ready for the challenge.

AMBER BRACH-WILLIAMS for Supervisor

Amber has been elected to Town Council 3 times and her background in accounting and developing our budget has saved the taxpayers’ wallets time and again. Amber believes in a proactive approach; not a reactive approach. Town Hall must get in order internally and the focus will be on transparency, managed growth and making sure our departments communicate with each other effectively. As Deputy supervisor, that spanned two different administrations, her leadership style
when she led Town Board Work Sessions has proven effective and is highlighted by her ability to listen. Taking an analytical science based approach, listening, researching and communicating with our engineers and scientists is a successful recipe to deal with the challenges we face. With Amber as our Supervisor, the horse is back in front of the cart.

ART WILLIAMS for Town Board

Art was elected two consecutive terms as Shelter Island Supervisor from 2001 through 2005. He is a past president and currently serves as secretary and treasurer of the Shelter Island Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the board of directors of The Island Gift of Life Foundation and San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Greenport, NY.  He previously served on the boards of the Shelter Island Chapter of the American Red Cross, Shelter Island Educational Foundation, Shelter Island Association, and Friends of the Shelter Island Library. He coached Shelter Island Youth Soccer and is a past commodore of the Shelter Island Yacht Club.

TOMMY CRONIN for Town Board

Tommy is a former policeman serving with honor and distinction from 1995-2018. Tommy is involved in numerous charities and served the needs of our seniors through the Town’s Senior Program; he has impacted the lives of nearly every family on Shelter Island. Tommy’s focus will be on transparency, listening to his constituents and working to unite what has become a fractured community.

ANNMARIE SEDDIO for Receiver of Taxes

AnnMarie has done a tremendous job as our receiver of taxes. She is knowledgeable and experienced, and her department runs smoothly and efficiently.

AMBER WILSON for Town Clerk

Amber joined the Clerk’s office during a difficult time and handled the often-contentious environment with skill, hard work and determination. Amber will build on the legacy of her predecessor Mrs. Ogar, and, in an effort to be as transparent as possible, will work to modernize and digitalize files so they can be accessed with speed and convenience.

Ken Lewis for Superintendent of Highways

Ken has several years of experience at the Highway Department and understands what it takes to do an effective job. Ken’s experience is needed to balance the Highway’s services with our unique environmental concerns. Ken has experience dealing with grants and has taken a proactive approach with ideas to protect our environment.
